The Lifeblood Of Your Car…

We all know it–that the fluids: Oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, etc.–are the lifeblood of a vehicle. Yet, a tremendous number of engine failures that we see are due simply to a lack of these critical fluids.
I was prompted to write this due to a visit from a gentleman who brought in a 2006 Dodge Stratus, 2.4 engine for a Missouri Vehicle Inspection. As a matter of course, we check the fluid levels (even though not required for an MVI); this vehicle was 3.5 quarts low on oil! The engine oil capacity for this car is FIVE quarts…meaning that the vehicle came in–somehow–with only 1.5 quarts of oil in the crankcase….Gee…
