Hummer Vehicles from General Motors

Hummer vehicles became popular when Hollywood celebrities saw the military version and wanted one to drive for themselves. Hummers appeared in various movies and became very popular in the United States. Hummers enjoyed a 12 year run before being discontinued in 2010, even after the 2010 model H3 passed many safety standards for front and side impact.

Although Hummers as a rule are good vehicles, they did have some issues that plagued their reliability.

The engines had issues with leaky valves and cylinder head gasket failures, causing poor performance and rough engine idling. These were repairable conditions that we would suggest using skilled auto service technicians.

The Passlock (Antitheft System) was used to prevent the vehicle from starting if the incorrect key was used. This system had it’s share of problems, causing the engine to not start even with the proper key. The Passlock system is serviceable by your local independent service repair center.
