I needed a state inspection to renew my plates on my truck. Complete Automotive South was able to get me in for an appointment next-day. They got me in and out quickly, gave me my inspection paperwork I needed to renew the plates, and helped me identify a brake issue that may need to be addressed soon. Absolutely no issues. Their waiting area was clean and well-stocked with snacks. I was able to sit and work quietly on my computer while I waited. Would happily go back.

Let me first say, this shop has been very friendly and professional through this whole process. As I pulled into their shop, my car completely died! They gave me a courtesy ride to work and then had quotes to me on repairs before the end of the day. I first had to agree to a complete diagnostic check of my car even though I knew what my main issues were. I will say, an issue was discovered through this inspection that I will need to have repaired as it is a safety concern. So I am very thankful for that, making the diagnostics well worth it! They gave me a quote for almost $1800 to put a new alternator in my car and then another 1350 For the lower control alarm/ball joint that had gone out on my front passenger side. So with the inspection fee and other shop fees that they include, I was looking at close to $3500 to repair both issues. I thought these quotes seemed high so I started doing some research the next day by calling around and getting quotes from other shops. Turns out they were about $500 to $600 higher than most other shops on the alternator and that was using manufacturer parts with the same amount of labor. So I was comparing apples to apples. It was the same on the ball joint/control arm repair as well. I was prepared to have my car towed to one of the other shops so I called them to pay them for the diagnostics and let them know. They were again, very friendly and courteous to me at all times. The gentlemen working with me on my quote, said to let him talk to his technicians and look things over again and see if he could make it more affordable, and surprise! He came back with a much lower quote that was more in line with the other shops using the same manufacturers part. Since my car was already there, I did have them do the repairs on my alternator and they did a great job from what I can tell so far. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth because had I not shopped around, they were fully prepared to WAY overcharge me! They were not able to come down on their quote much for the ball joint/control arm repair so now that my car is in running order I will be taking that elsewhere. The moral of the story is, do your homework and get other quotes from the smaller independently owned shops in town before agreeing to an overpriced repair. I will not be coming back to complete automotive, not because of their workmanship but. Because I would never fully trust that they are being transparent with me and truly have my best interests at heart.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Jane. Your feedback is much appreciated. I sympathize with your concern regarding the change in pricing. We always strive to deliver consistency and transparency with our pricing, and I see why you have a reason to question that. Your situation was a bit unique in that we generally recommend original equipment alternators that we often purchase from local parts suppliers or dealerships which is what we initially estimated for you. The parts are available much quicker, and it makes it much easier to provide our 3 year/36,000 mile warranty in a timely fashion should there ever be an issue. However, once you expressed a concern regarding the price, we located a cheaper option via an online retailer that we do not typically utilize. The good news is that it enabled us to perform the repair at a lower cost. The bad news is that it made it appear that we were simply trying to "overcharge" you on the first estimate. I completely understand your perspective in this situation. Unfortunately, I can't do much to restore broken trust beyond letting you know what happened on our end. Thank you for allowing us to service your vehicle, and I hope nothing but the best for you in the future. -Michael
