Spring has arrived and with it comes the need to do a vehicle cleanse after a long winter. Cars go through so much during the chilly season— ice, snow, salt, slush sand, gravel, and dirt can all can pull a number on the cleanliness of your ride. Even if you live in a warmer part of the world, these are helpful suggestions for spring cleaning your vehicle and getting your car ready and sparkly for the warmer weather and longer days:
Clean Under the Cloth Floor Mats
You'll be surprised how much salt, gravel, and dirt can get stuck under the floor mats. If left there, all this debris can eventually work through the mat and corrode the body of the car.
Wash the Headlights and Taillights
The headlights and taillights can take a beating in winter and by the spring, they're generally pretty foggy and filthy. For safety and visibility at night, it's so important to make sure your headlights and taillights are clean. Just washing them with warm water on a damp cloth will work wonders and allow you to see better and to be seen clearer by other car drivers.
Remove the Winter Tires
Keeping your winter tires on during the summer months will cause the tread to wear down fast and your tires will be useless once winter comes around again. Winter tires don't effectively grip a road free and clear of snow, ice, gravel, etc.. Using all-season tires during the spring and summer is best when the pavement is hot and tires can melt.
Clean Out the Trunk
Over the winter, so much can accumulate in your car. Whether it be blankets, ice scrapers, or fluid bottles, it's wise to give that trunk a good clean. Recycle what you can and make room for umbrellas, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets!
Check Under the Seats
This is an area that is often neglected and really shouldn't be. Under the seats is where you'll find all types of things ranging from coffee cups to spare change to many other surprises. Getting a vacuum hose under those seats should seamlessly get the job done.
Wax the Car’s Exterior
The corrosive salt on a vehicle will be wiped away with a good wash and wax. The wax will add a shiny coat and seal the paint.
Some other areas to focus on for spring cleaning:
Seats and Fabric
Windows
Under the Hood
Underneath the Whole Car
