While there are plenty of really cool things to do right here in Springfield, sometimes we just wanna get away and explore. There’s nothing better than putting the pedal to the medal and simply going. There might be a little bit of ice and snow this month, but nothing looks bad enough to keep you from enjoying some fun day trips:

1. Frisco Highline Trail: Lots to see and do along this 36-mile stretch from hiking to biking to dining.

2. Red Oak 2: A canvas doesn’t have to be something you hang on the wall. It can also be a completely recreated town from 1930.

3. Eureka Springs, Arkansas: Head out about a hundred miles from here to find this historic town. Here you’ll find Victorian buildings, shopping, good food, and plenty of outdoor activities. If you love the to hug the curves, this drive has plenty of great driving road time.

4. Crystal Bridges: About two hours outside of Springfield, you’ll find this unique museum that is nestled into 120 acres of nature. It boasts collections from Rockwell to Warhol.

5. Zipline USA: Wahoo! Ready to get your blood pumping? The head out to Branson for a tour of the canopies and get ready to have some fun! Whether you’re 10 or 80, this is a really cool way to spend an afternoon.

6. Jefferson City: About 2 ½ hours away is our state’s Capital. There’s so much to do and see here that you might want to make this an overnighter unless it’s really just about a day of driving.

7. Top of the Rock: Even if you’re not into gold, this is a wonderful place to visit with plenty to see and do! And if you ARE into golf, then this is definitely a must-visit destination. Only an hour outside of Springfield, so there’s NO excuse!

8. Roaring River State Park: Even if it’s not quite time for a swim, this is still a great place to take a drive to and enjoy the hiking trails, the scenery, and the nature center. Get out and go!

This list should give you a good start with many awesome choices. We live in such a beautiful part of the country and there is so much to see and do. Before you head on a road trip, even a short one, make sure to check all of your major fluids, tire pressure, and give those tires a once over to check for wear or even something stuck in there that could lead to a flat tire.
